- Are you able to run other wine apps off that ext4 filesystem?
- Have you tried running WINEPREFIX=/media/my-ext4-partition/home/foo/wine-test
wine wow.exe ?
- Were you ever able to run wow on that setup?
- Have you tried tried moving wow on your ext3 partition and running it from
there?

That should cover it..
