I believe this is a duplicate of #18153, which was never closed.

I don't have this problem with WINE 1.2.1 on the four boxes I've run Wizard 101
on.  (All Debian Squeeze (testing).)  I seem to recall having this problem with
1.1.x versions of WINE, but it was just a matter of finding the right
configuration/DLLs.

Installing mfc42.dll and turning off hardware virtex and pixel shader support
in winecfg is all I've needed to do to make it run on 1.1.x and 1.2.1.

If that still doesn't work, I can help troubleshoot.
