Bug 25548 give the solution:

- installing "ttf-opensymbol" package (taken from ubuntu natty) create a
working wingdings alternative "opens__.ttf"

- this font is located at: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/openoffice/opens__.ttf

- as wine dont find it there, you need to copy "opens__.ttf" to wine
/windows/Fonts/

- then wingdings.ttf is no more needed.
