Could this may be because Microsoft has gotten smarter with their products?
Because the setup says the following:


"To get Windows Media Player 11, you must verify that Microsoft(R) Windows(R)
is genuine. After successful validation your system will have access to the
latest features, updates, and support."


In the bottom, right-hand corner, there is a button that says "Validate"


*clicks the button*


At the top of the inside of the window, it says this:

"You may be a victim of software counterfeiting.

Below it, it says:

"This copy of Windows is not genuine."


Hmm...
