I can confirm comment #28 From  Ethan Baldridge:

I use 64-bit Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic kernel = 2.6.31-17-generic and using wine 1.2
from the official Ubuntu repos refused to work for me. When I used the Jaunty
build from http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/ there was no problem.

I am currently using obse 17b with Toggleable Quantity Prompt mod (in
conjunction with AF Leveling Mod which does not require obse). Some of the
leveling aspects of the game seem to be deliberately designed to torture
players (bad points for Bethesda) so I consider this bug to be very important
as far as Oblivion is concerned.
