Yes, I know. I was under the ( apparently false ) impression that *I* had to
reproduce the bug *myself* in order to promote it to "checked" in the AppDB. I
apologize for any confusion.

I was trying to provide an accurate, step-by-step record of what I tried to do
to reproduce the bug. I apologize if I accidentally "spammed" the comments
section with STDERR messages, but I thought it would be better not to interrupt
the flow of the conversation -- I am aware of the policies regarding debugging
info etc.
