also did a few more tests today with the current git and removed the patch:

git show ab111025c03e7e2a93bb61a6b3607e4bf8f83561 | patch -p1 -R
patching file dlls/winex11.drv/event.c
Hunk #1 succeeded at 942 (offset 1 line).
Hunk #2 succeeded at 967 (offset 1 line).
CC="ccache gcc" ./configure --verbose && make depend && make

and that removed the problem.
if there is any specific logging needed for this (removing fixme-all) does not
show anything different with or without patch
