I looked into this a bit more. If you look at Adobe' install log, you'll see:
*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Operation complete. Setting status: 7

...
Calling the custom action code for post-install for payload

Payload {02731921-5711-4E7A-A898-D6BCF0F2A1CD} has an action "install" but no
resultState

Seems like it's having some trouble running some custom code after install the
vc90 redistributable. The +relay gets huge, and there are a ton of similar
payload's, so I'm having trouble figuring out what it's doing here exactly.

I found a few similar problems on Adobe's forums:

which seem to indicate that there may be a problem if the install path has
spaces, so I tried putting them in ~/.wine/drive_c/cs5, but that didn't help.

I'll attach the adobe log, perhaps it may give a better clue.
