You can reproduce this very easily by the way:
$ rm -rf .wine
$ winetricks -q wmp10
$ cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Windows\ Media\ Player/
$ wine wmplayer.exe

click through the wizard, and when the main program appears, close it.
