I believe the game does have a 64-bit version, but this appears to the 32-bit
version.  Perhaps it does some kind of 64-bit test by running a 64-bit
executable when launching to see if the 64-bit version would be the current
machine?

Running all of the .exe files through 'file' indicates that they are all
32-bit.
