Hi,

Perfect Dark kept crashing for me as well when I tried to run it with
LANG=ja_JP.utf8. Turns out that all you need to do is follow the instructions
of the comment at the bottom of this page: 

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=11132

I can now view Japanese with English in Perfect Dark.
