I'm also having the same problem if "next generation content" is enabled, but
it seems to be completely independent from "depth of field". With "next
generation content", I'm having graphic corruption here, specially in videos,
but also the illumination seems very wrong (attached screenshot) and the game
drops down to 1 or 2 FPS in some places (my video card is a Radeon HD 4770, it
should handle this more than well enough), which makes the game unplayable.
Without enabling "next generation content", it seems to run flawlessly.

Now, when I tried it in Windows 7 a long time ago, it crashed with that option,
so I wouldn't expect it to run flawlessly in Wine as well.
