dardack's tiny patch (which works with wine 1.2-rc2) at
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9349655&postcount=212 *fixes* my
many-months-long laggy wireless mouse problem in Thief 2 - I suggest others try
it.

mesa 7.8.1
xorg-server 1.8.1
nvidia 195.36.24
