I see this, too.  On my e8400 / gt220 system:
Vista: solid 60 FPS, CPU usage 20%
Wine-1.3.6: variable 40 FPS, CPU usage 110%

I had to turn off the rendering thread (see bug 23647) or the screen was
usually black on wine.  No effect on Windows.  
(And framerate didn't seem to improve on wine with readerthread on.)
