I was that guy. I don't get the windows message that says can't activate GLRC
in 1.3.5, but I do get it back in wine 1.1.44.

I've seen many people claim it runs on Linux, so, I am sure it does. I actually
own the real version (not trial), and it also does not work for the same
reason. My results are the same as yours.

I have tried not only with the built in , but also after loading xQuartz 2.5.3,
same result.
