I will test on my linux box when I get home in a bit. I've been putting it off
because I don't like the state of d3d in wine at the moment for playing wow, so
I've been playing on windows.

It's possible that if there is slowness, it's just due to exactly what I said
above though. That's why most guides from before 4.0.1 of WoW said to use
opengl mode, but since opengl mode is worse now that blizzard is supposedly
dropping support for it (physically can't change graphics settings above low in
opengl mode even on windows) ... everyone is forced to switch to d3d.
