I downloaded the document and opened it in Word 2007; the image appears just
fine on my system in 1.3.26. It also appears fine in when opened in 1.3.14
(selected because I happened to have that version already built), so I don't
think this is a bug that just happened to have been fixed since the reported
version. (You should test that yourself to be sure.) 

What graphics card/driver are you using? Have you disabled desktop effects?
