Yesterday, fresh install of Fedora 16 from DVD and online fc16 and fc16_update
repositories. After all updates completed, I installed wine, downloaded the
Kindle app installer from Amazon, and ran it under wine. I got the error about
unimplemented function msvcp90.dll. But that was before I deleted the manifest
file. Sorry about that--I didn't read far enough down in the .xsession-errors
file.
After deleting the manifest file, Kindle app started up but stopped responding
as soon as I clicked on a book. The message in the pop-up window says "The
program Kindle.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close." At
this point, wine stops responding, and needs to be terminated.
.xsession-errors indicates that wine has encountered an unhandled page fault on
read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x785571df (thread 23). All windows
freeze up, and wine has to be terminated.
