What's missing in the bug description is that the game complains about missing
msdxm.ocx after starting. Msdxm.ocx is a Windows Media Player 2 ActiveX control
module and is not installed by the game.
After placing that file in the game directory (or in /system32) the game
started, first it complained about the lack of Opengl, then it began to load
the game. Loading, however, took more than 10 minutes until the game finally
reached the main menu.
