I can confirm this bug, using wine 1.3.13 on Ubuntu Maverick with the radeon
r600g driver (from xorg-edgers).  The bug also appeared with the default radeon
driver for Maverick.  

An additional wrinkle is that this bug does not seem to affect the Catalyst
driver from ATI (fglrx).  I have not tried on Maverick, but on Lucid I had no
text with the open-source radeon driver, but text was just fine with fglrx.  

I have not had the chance to try the DIB engine patch, but just like Stephen
Zakulec, I remember a time when text worked with the open-source driver without
the DIB patch.
