Hmmm...here's my computer info:

NVidia GTX 285 with 260.19.29 driver
Intel i7 920

And my wine config:

Windows XP
mmdevapi disabled
No other overrides
No virtual desktop

And my registry values (all under HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D):
DirectDrawRenderer: gdi
OffscreenRenderingMode: fbo
PixelShaderMode: enabled
SoftwareEmulatin: enabled
UseGLSL: enabled
VertexShaderMode: hardware
VideoMemorySize: 1024

Maybe it's a combination of my settings + the patch that is making it work. 
Because prior to applying the patch, I had the exact same issues.  However,
once it was applied, everything worked.
