That's about the sum of it -- once the xinput stuff is there for OSX both the
linux & mac camps should be on equal footing with dinput/xinput. The older (pre
directx) method that works in linux (but would be troublesome to implement in
OSX) should, in theory, only affect older win32 apps ; to get a feel of that by
looking at it historically...see;
