Is this still an issue with a recent Wine? Also, what video card and driver are
you using?

I ask this because I remembered having the same problem (no text in game) on my
previous installation (Fedora 14).
However, on my current Fedora 15 installation the game displays text (menu
options) correctly.
I can still reproduce the problem with an older Wine (around 1.1.35) but any
versions past Wine-1.2.3 renders the text correctly.
I haven't checked this bug for several months but I'm sure the problem was
still there in Wine-1.3.x on Fedora 14 so I wonder if the fix might come from a
Nvidia driver update?
