tru getting through setup without glsl, then crashing

I noticed when I set UseGLSL to disabled, the setup program accepts my settings
and apparently the game tries to start. However, I get an unhandled page fault
then instead.

I see a %eax in the log, can it have to do with sound? I use OSS 4, not alsa.
Fmod problem?
