I have the same bug with wine-1.3.24 under Fedora 15 when I use VD.
Without Virtual-Desktop the mouse cursor is always on top and in the center
(annoying).

Comment 7 does help me but I have to start the game in windowed mode and click
on any other window before focusing the game window again.
