I can also confirm that renaming or deleting both files isn't a general
solution for everyone. Now I just have a black screen and the game's mouse
cursor. I thought it's a problem with directx now, for I have tried everything
like reinstalling wine or d3dx9 and different options in the "Libraries" tab,
but other games like LotRo work fine.

I have already selected a server and created a character on my girlfriend's
windows pc, perhaps it has something to do with the problem.
