Re-tested with wine-1.3.33-198-g3b72928 with the same result: the activation
fails with an error message.
In the terminal now
err:wininet:HTTP_ParseDateAsAsctime unexpected weekday L"-1"
err:wininet:HTTP_ParseDate unexpected date format L"-1"

I must add that Gamersgate revoked the game from their catalogue for quite some
time now (still available to download for those who obtained the game
formerly).

Marking ABANDONED.
