I tried the demo version.

You need to raise ulimit for files (see
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=21080 ). The demo
ships it's own version of the d3dx9_27.dll, normally the game works with that.
If that's not the case it's probably a bug in the intel driver. With nvidia it
works fine here.

The game uses asci effects, so it could be a while til it works.
