I haven't seen anything added by Wine since I put the override in my .bashrc.
Before that, I was doing it manually for each wineprefix, and in retrospect, I
think at least some of the cases where mimetypes got added seemingly against my
will were simply cases where I forgot to specify the override before running
something. That's easy to do, so I really recommend putting it in .bashrc.

But if you are seeing cases where plain Wine really is adding mimetypes even
though you have the override in .bashrc, please post exact steps to reproduce
the problem in bug 20612. IMO, the current problem with that bug is that the
only examples mentioned involve winetricks, and that was a winetricks problem.
