The best way is to simpy try to save a document in odt as here:
http://www.microsoft.com/interop/graphics/featured/SaveAs.png

We can also search in +msi log of installation L"Word_ODCore" component, like
here:
trace:msi:ITERATE_WriteRegistryValues Checked and setting value L"Word_ODCore"
of
L"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Office\\12.0\\Registration\\{91120000-002F-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}\\AdvReg"

-> So the registry key might be useful also. 

We can also try to open odt file, simply.
