[Bug 30020] Tribes Ascend does not connect to the authentication service

The fact that I got the following in my log, with a connection try in the
service's log:
err:service:service_send_control service protocol error - failed to write pipe!

points more and more to TransmitFile, AcceptEx etc. (bug 5048) being
unimplemented. Anyone working on this? I saw someone made progress there only
to be discouraged by the tests and the error handling needed in his code?
