This bug is still present in Wine 1.5.8, when DirectDraw HAL is selected as 3D
driver in the game options. Using the software renderer doesn't show the
problem.

I found out that the two issues reported earlier are in fact different
problems:
- the 'mouse pointer leaving trails' issue can be omitted, as it seems to be a
known problem. I found references to this problem on this page, under MOUSE
TRAILS (ASYNCHRONOUS MOUSE) chapter:
http://ladyamber7.tripod.com/gkshoot.html
It can be worked around by setting the registry key 'GEngine
DisableAsyncMouse'.

- the other problem reported here (the hero leaves an afterimage when moving
across the screen) is a different problem, and that one is caused by enabling
the game option 'Incremental Rendering'. This option is enabled by default.
Disabling the option makes the problem go away. I can't test the game under
real Windows, it might be a bug with recent graphics drivers as well.

Fedora 17 x86
Nvidia 250 / driver 295.59
X.Org X Server 1.12.2
