on the other hand, after closer examination, you might be quite correct in that
these two bugs are related.

in bug 30221, the exception (0x80040100) @01AD84F5 generated dialog msgs that
needed to be unclicked, but the program did not crash.  this time, i did not
encounter any error msgs i had to unclick.
however, the returned error 0x80040111 is pretty close to what was happening in
bug 30221:

err:ole:apartment_getclassobject DllGetClassObject returned error 0x80040111
