I found that 1.3.0 works and does not crash while 1.3.37 crashes in the same
way as 1.4.x  I am bisecting that at the moment attempting to find the guilty
patch so I can perhaps apply it to 1.4.x while bisecting between 1.3.0 and
1.5.5
