I've tried The Sims 3 (Steam version) recently, and found that changing the
edge smoothing option does changes the quality of the image (the rough edges
disappeared).
The "Multisampling" registry entry is no longer needed with recent Wine
versions.

Dan, could you retest and confirm the fixed state?
