Same problem here, upgraded from 1.5.4 to 1.5.5 and the game crashes right
after login. Installed from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 nvidia drivers 295.40

Tried wiping .wine and rerunning winecfg, didn't help.

Downgraded to 1.5.4 and all is fine again.
