I have exactly the same problem with the same apps as r_rozx above.  Screen
shot looks the same.  I have tried a dozen recommended fixes found on the web
and nothing works.  BTW, my microphone is part of a USB headset.  Works in
Ubuntu, works in WINE but does not show up in Rosetta Stone.  This bug says
"Unconfirmed" but if one searches the web one will see that the problem is and
has been around for quite a while. H E L P !
