I suspect it could be the result of fixing bug #14716 in 1.1.3.
I'm no OpenGL programmer so I could be totally wrong, but the bug was that
objects were the only ones not obscured by fog;
- The fix made objects affected by fog just like the landscape below them;
- In our present case, it could have made "objects" look like the landscape,...
that is, totally black! With the hypothesis that it's not a problem of
textures, but of some fog or volumetric effect that literally obscures
everything.

I'm not sure it's supposed to be some volumetric effect in this map; Looking at
the expected screenshot we see the dust clouds of the police cars on the road
above, but nothing else really obvious. But maybe there's a slight dimness
effect, that for some reason is interpreted as a full strength pitch black
effect when nVidia drivers are used?

Could anybody suggest some way to (in)validate that hypothesis (logging,
workaround,...)?
