I had been using Wine 1.3 with Kubuntu 10.10, to work around this problem I set
a "global shorcut" just to mimize the Window using KWIN system and not the
Guild Wars icon. I believe this error existed because of conflicts with the
game's desire to manage the window status. Using the KWIN shortcut is about the
only way to minimize and recover to full screen again. Recently I upgraded to
Wine 1.5.3 and Kubuntu 12.04 this seem less of a problem and also corrected
some sound issues. If it is still an issue I hope this information can help
develop the Wine software.
