I've tested with 1.5.29 and I indeed get more CPU usage (8% on a core) on idle
than when opening preferences (0-2%).
Don't know if that's significant, though.
FWIW, the log only contains lines like
fixme:wincodecs:PngDecoder_Block_GetCount 0x23c7730,0x33e918: stub
Can you please retry (with preferably an old CPU) to see if the problem still
occurs for you?
