I retried with the version I tested on 1.4-rc5

Maybe at least rechecking regularly your bug(s), say at least once or twice a
year, without waiting for volunteers to do so could help?
Developers might generally not want to try and fix a bug if the bug report
hasn't 
been updated for ages.

If you have the technical ability, identifying the faulty wine component could
also help a lot, even if you can't fix the bug right away.
