[Bug 20827] Colin McRae: DiRT fails to start

Still an issue wrt 1.7.6 & Debian7 (nv9800gt/319.23) - Steam version of game.
At the moment, if enabled the Steam gameoverlayUI stuff seems to provoke a
crash starting the game -- disabling that results in the same behavior as
experienced previously with this title, go to start > gets to blackscreen >
nada ... I'll attach a logfile when I get a chance to have a closer look at
things...
