Appears that it was a graphics driver bug, at least on nvidia. 1.2 / 1.3.13 and
1.7.2 all work fine.

OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GTX 460/PCIe/SSE2
OpenGL version string: 4.3.0 NVIDIA 319.32
