Okay, I'll move it to the forums. I've attached the latest terminal output in
comment #8. 

Your suggestion to install gdiplus changed the error to "CES has generated a
.Net error: A generic error occurred in GDI+".

Thanks to all for their help so far. You've helped me move this from being a
bug report to a end-user problem, which seems like progress to me :)
