Please excuse me if this is supposed to be simple. I visited
http://wiki.winehq.org/Patching for instructions on applying the patch you
linked.

*copied the text of the deXify_glu32.patch that you linked. 
*made a file called patch.diff in my /sw/lib/wine/ folder. (Fink install)
*ran /sw/lib/wine/ patch -p1 < patch.diff 

output in both cases is: patch: **** strip count l is not a number 

*also tried with /sw/lib/wine/ patch -p1 < patch.patch

What am I missing?
