I just tested Mendeley Desktop 1.13.7 with wine wine-1.7.38 and I still get the
error when I click on the References ribbon:

Runtime error '429'
ActiveX component can't create object

According to bug #35544, this should be fixed. It's not.

If I run Word 2010 form the command line, I get
