I doubt a Windows installation using the same method would cause a page fault
without anyone noticing.

Saying that: you are using an ancient version of Wine. Upgrade to Wine 1.7.45
and try again.

Please do not mix issues in one bug report or it will be closed as invalid.
Stick with the installation issue. One bug per bug report.
