How to submit patches

In documentation/wine-doc/patches.html,
Albert den Haan says : 
" For additions: mention that you have some new files
and include them as either separate attachments or by
appending the diff -u /dev/null /my/new/file output of
them to any cvs diff -u output you may have.
Alernatively, use diff -Nu olddir/ newdir/  in case of
multiple new files to add.

For removals, list the files."

I understood how to do when I have an addition,
but not when I have a removal.
Could someone give a sample ?
