Right, the clear Wine REG-file format only (in a separate file).

I think yes, for me it would an improvement.  The only bad thing here is
my lack of the ideas on how to implement such forking.  

If it is a not very trivial stuff to code and if only a very few users
would become pleased with it, then the idea is dead already, right?

Whatever it be, I vote for the forking offered by Mike:
config-to-registry-through-a-separate-regfile, eg.: ~/.wine/config.reg .


PS  I know, my english isn't OK.  Hope I can be understood in right way.
