wine using xp from a dual boot machine?

Hi

I'm in the process of moving over to Linux, I've recently set my machine
up dual boot with my old XP Pro and my lovely new Gentoo.

However it would be really useful to be able to still access my windows
apps in Linux, can I set up wine to use the already installed and
configured windows xp setup in this machine. So again in case it doesn't
make sense - I want to use the XP files and folders that are already on
the machine that would be used when I boot into XP but I want to use
them with wine in Linux. Is this possible?

I tried it a bit but got very mixed results: I could run things like
notepad, but could run bigger apps like word. Is there somethings I
should be aware of, or settings maybe I haven't considered important?

Many thanks for any help.

My config file if it's of any use.
